TURNBULL HIDES IR POLICIES

June 28, 2016

The Abbott-Turnbull Government is hiding its true, radical industrial relations agenda from the Australian people – WorkChoices 2.0.

In 2013 the Liberals promised to review Australia’s workplace relations system and said any changes would “be taken to an election before they are implemented.”

The review has happened, it was provided to the Government on 30 November 2015 and yet with just four days to go until the election not one single recommendation has been responded to by the Abbott-Turnbull Government.

In the absence of any Abbott-Turnbull Government response to the Productivity Commission’s report we must conclude it supports all of the recommendations, including the outrageous proposal to slash penalty rates.

Even if the lazy and incompetent Liberals manage to respond to the report before election day they have left no time for the Australian people to consider the proposals and as such have absolutely no mandate for introducing changes to Australia’s Fair Work system should they be elected.

Any proposed change recommended by the Productivity Commission will be a broken promise – something this government knows more than a thing or two about.

In failing to respond to the Productivity Commission’s report, the Abbott-Turnbull Government has used a tactic straight from John Howard’s deceitful playbook.

WorkChoices was not mentioned once by the Liberals before the 2004 election. Now in 2016, on the eve of an election, the Liberals have chosen not to disclose their industrial relations agenda – the parallels are striking and lead to one conclusion, WorkChoices 2.0.

The Abbott-Turnbull Government has been a complete and utter failure and when people vote on July 2 they need to do so knowing the Liberals will introduce a radical IR agenda that supports cutting penalty rates.
