I am pleased and honoured to be appointed to Labor’s Shadow Ministry in the Employment, Industry, Science, Small and Family Business portfolios by the Leader of the Opposition Anthony Albanese.

Taking on these portfolios is an opportunity to enhance our economy, informed by innovation, research and science, while working with industry, unions and a variety of stakeholders.

Australia must develop a robust and modern economy that will ensure prosperity for all Australians. One that puts innovation at the centre of building a new and fairer Australia.

I look forward to working with the economic team in particular, Shadow Minister for Innovation, Technology, and the Future of Work, Clare O’Neil, Shadow Minister Assisting for Small and Family Business, Matt Keogh, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Manufacturing, Senator Louise Pratt.

I acknowledge the hard work of Senator Kim Carr of over the many years he has held this portfolio. His commitment to advocating for the modernisation of Australian industry and advancing Australia’s science and research policies has been instrumental in improvements in this area and in holding the government to account.

I look forward to continuing and building upon this work.
